At Equicity, we practice what we preach. We value each team member as a partner and work collaboratively with a variety of service providers to ensure the best outcomes for our clients.
A social equity, strategic communications, leadership development and community engagement pro, Mary has led transformative belonging and outreach campaigns for nonprofit, public and private sector agencies for more than 25 years. Mary is Principal at Equicity Partners providing equitable, inclusive and purpose driven management solutions for her clients. A public speaker, published author and award winning DEI influencer, her expertise has been sought out by government, corporate and multicultural stakeholders.
This past year, for global infrastructure and consulting firm Mott MacDonald, Mary built out the agency’s social equity practice in Los Angeles, working with clients like LA Metro and LA County Public Works. Before joining MM, Mary led diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, bridge building, and civic leadership programs at the Jewish Federation Los Angeles.
Before joining the Federation, as BSC’s Director of PR and Marketing, Mary led and managed consumer-focused patient empowerment, digital marketing and earned media campaigns for leading global health organizations. She ran branding and marketing campaigns on emerging and cutting-edge health trends working daily with world-renowned surgeons, medical industry innovators and other healthcare influencers.
Mary launched her career as Associate VP at the Lee Andrews Group, managing strategic public affairs services and community benefits for clients in the environmental, real estate, transportation and health-related industries. To help build consensus and trust, and to improve outcomes for all, she convened community leaders around public-private sector initiatives across the region. Clients included AQMD, LADWP, The Magic Johnson Foundation, Port of Los Angeles, LA World Airports, winning ballot initiatives and local campaigns.
Mary is a board member at Center for Powerful Public Schools and The Braid. She is an alumni of JFNA’s JEDI Leadership Program and The Jewish Federation’s Rautenberg New Leaders Project. Mary holds a BA in Philosophy with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Public Policy from the UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs (SPA). She was awarded with the Luskin Alumna of the Year Award for excellence in community service, professional achievement, public service and university service.

I’m so grateful to have had the opportunity to connect and work with Mary this past year. As a native Los Angelina, I appreciate the partnerships she has carefully and thoughtfully put together in this city; the commitment she has for DEI for EVERYone; and the passion with which she does everything. Mostly, I appreciate her thought partnership in areas we both work.
Senior Director of Partnerships at LA Nonprofit
Mary has that special combination of qualities that makes people want to be around her, help her and be led by her. Mary grew a multi-ethnic, racial and religious civic partner network that had integrity and connected folks from across the city of LA who would never have met. I admire her work ethic, communication skills, collegiality and mind. Can you tell I am a fan!?
Principal Project Manager at LA Infrastructure Firm
Mary is a special person and it was a great pleasure to work with her. Mary has a unique ability to understand our local communities, listen to their challenges and understand how this is intertwined in delivering positive social outcomes. Mary is also highly adept at presenting her value proposition and needs minimal direction to achieve her clients and personal goals. If you want someone to understand infrastructure equity in the Los Angeles area, then she is your person. Mary is a great talent and someone who I would be honored to connect in with regularly.
Vice President at LA Consulting Firm
I had the privilege of working with Mary at Mott MacDonald, and I can confidently say she is an exceptionally talented professional who consistently leads innovative and impactful initiatives. One standout effort was an interactive workshop she led, titled “Achieving Social Equity in Mobility.” This topic is one of the most crucial—and arguably the most important—considerations for enhancing mobility within our communities. Mary’s workshop was not only meticulously planned and executed but also demonstrated her unique ability to engage participants from diverse backgrounds and experiences. She ensured that everyone, including our student interns had the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the discussion. What truly sets Mary apart is her unwavering commitment to fostering social equity and inclusion, paired with her remarkable ability to drive tangible, effective results. She is an invaluable asset to any team, and it’s clear that her passion for making a difference translates into every project she undertakes.
